Work Experience

July 2001–present: Philadelphia magazine, Metrocorp Publishing; Philadelphia, PA
Senior Art Director. Responsibilities include all aspects of page layout and design from meeting with editors, developing concepts, hiring photographers and illustrators, budgeting, and working with strict deadlines.

May 2005–July 2008: A.C. Now magazine, Metrocorp Publishing; Philadelphia, PA
Art Director. A.C Now was a biannual guide to Atlantic City. Duties included establishing this publication’s overall design and structure as well as hiring photographers, adhering to a tight budget, and laying out the entire magazine.

August 2000–July 2001: Parham Santana, Inc.; New York, NY
Senior Designer. Responsibilities included identity, brochure, and website design.

September 1999–July 2000: Tyler School of Art, Office of Publications; Elkins Park, PA
Designer. Designed posters, mailers, brochures, and other related materials as part of graduate assistantship.

Freelance

Work on other design projects on a continuing basis. They include websites, identity packages, and announcements.

Education

January 1996–May 2000: Tyler School of Art, Temple University
M.F.A. degree in Visual and Interactive Design with final G.P.A. of 3.97.

September 1988–August 1992: Pennsylvania State University
B.A. degree in Liberal Arts.

Awards

Three gold awards for spread design from the City and Regional Magazine Association.
Was named a finalist for the 2009 Designer of the Year award from the City and Regional Magazine Association.
Two Merit awards for spread design from the Society of Publication Designers, 43rd and 44th annuals.
Awarded graduate assistantship with full tuition remission and stipend for 1999–2000 academic year.
Designed “National Portfolio Days 2000–2001” poster, which was selected for North American distribution.

Teaching and Presentations

March 2001–July 2001: Parsons School of Design; New York, NY
Instructor for a continuing education, graphic design class.

Spring semester, 1999: Tyler School of Art; Elkins Park, PA
Taught Introduction to Computer Graphics, a sophomore design class.

Have also given presentations at both Drexel University and Tyler School of Art on publication design.

InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, QuarkXpress, HTML, CSS.
